After the hair of a 2-year-old girl tested positive for methamphetamine exposure, her mother was arrested.
Madison County officials say 32-year-old Susannah Perske of Norfolk is due back in court next month, accused of felony child abuse.
The hair on the toddler's 5-year-old sister did not test positive for meth, but both girls have been taken into protective custody by the state.
Court documents say Perske told officers that she used marijuana and meth within a week of her arrest Sept. 14. Prosecutors say the abuse ran from July 1 through Sept. 14.
A phone number listed for Perske was busy during several calls
from The Associated Press on Tuesday. Her attorney did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
