The Douglas County Health Department is offering some suggestions for preparing those Thanksgiving turkeys.

Health Director Dr. Adi Pour says people could encounter health problems if they eat turkey that is not cooked thoroughly.

Turkeys should be roasted at 325 degrees, and it's safe when cooked to a minimum of 165 degrees in all parts as measured by a food thermometer.

Frozen turkeys require a day of thawing time for each four to five pounds. A thawed turkey can be kept in the refrigerator for one or two days.
