A Lincoln woman has been ticketed for leaving her 15-year-old daughter stranded on Interstate 80 -- allegedly for a playing poorly in soccer game.

Lincoln Police say 42 year old Terrell Mackey was angry at her daughter because of the way the girl had played.

Investigators say that Mackey began hitting her daughter while driving. They say the mother eventually pulled over on the interstate and when the girl got, Mackey drove off.

Some friends and their parents picked up the teenager.

Terrell Mackey has been ticketed for misdemeanor child neglect.

For many in Omaha, the story has a familiar ring to it.

In November 2006, Patrick Krause was fined 750 dollars for hitting his son.

Court documents state Krause hit his then nine-year-old son four times because the boy struck out twice during a baseball game.

Channel 6 News spoke to an expert from the Child Saving Institute at the time of Krause's court case.

Jill Ramet said parents have to set realistic goals, ones in line with their child's abilities.

The misdemeanor child neglect charge which Mackey faces is punishable by up to three months in jail and a $500 fine.

although i dont agree her actions ya all think she should have the book thrown at her.and even charge her with a felony! But you will sit back and let illegal imigrants (which is a felony and over 5million of them) walk our streets unopposed many of which are collecting public assistance therefor taking food out of american childrens mouth

Should she also get a ticket for a non emergency stop on a freeway. I would find everything she done wrong and throw the book at her. Maybe she would think twice then.

a woman who hurts a child or teenager through physical or emotional abuse is not a mother.this woman needs help to figure out how she will be able to make this up to her daughter and earn the tittle of being a mother.

It is just a sport, not the end of the world. Let me see some of these parents do their best out on the field.

A MISDEMEANOR FOR CHILD NEGLECT? I'M SHOCKED THAT THE WOMAN ONLY GOT TICKETED. IF IT HAD BEEN ANYONE ELSE IT WOULD BE CONSIDERED A DOWNRIGHT ASSAULT WITH AN IMMEDIATE ARREST.

Misdemeanor? $500 and three months jail? Assaulting her child and endangering her on a freeway should be a felony with a five *thousand*-dollar fine and at least a year behind bars - and a good hard look from protective agencies.

I have worked with this women at a job here in Columbus,Ne and from what i here this is not the first time this girl has been mistreated by her mother,i just hope the girl tells everything that has happenedto her...I pray that the state step's in and gives this child to a good family so maybe she can have a life...

OK WHAT IF THE CHILD HAD BEEN HIT BY A CAR WOULD THE MOTHER THEN BE ARRESTED?THE FACT THAT SHE WAS NOT ARRESTED MAKES ME ILL.I CANNOT COMPREHEND WHY YOU WOULD EVER DO THAT TO YOUR CHILD SHAME ON YOU.

I agree with Nikki 100% - this poor child has probably been put through this treatment before. Thank GOD it was a friend who picked her up along the interstate. The way this world is today, you can't trust anyone. This mother should be thankful there is someone looking out for her child. Anyone could have picked her up...how irresponsible!! Hopefully there is a safe place for this girl to go. Now that there's negative publicity about her family, I only pray she doesn't choose to run away from home. Jay has a good point about the evaluation for this parent!!

Nikki-- I COMPLETELY agree with you. What if something had happened to this child? This mother (term used very loosely) is completely out of order. Parents need to stop living their dreams through their children and let kids be kids. They are going to mess up it's part of life. Get a grip woman!

I agree with Nikki, I think she should have been arrested because just like Nikki said that lady that left her husband in the car was arrested, and this is a child.

no matter where in the world, or what the circumstances, no one should ever be assualted because of a sport game. Shame on any parent who thinks more of "what people will think of their childs' actions on the field" than about the child him/her self. The kids know when they didn't play their best, but for God's sake, IT'S ONLY A GAME!

It just makes me sick to hear about things like this. I know that no one is a perfect parent, but to flip out on your kid b/c they did not play the best that day. I hope that this lady gets more then just a ticket.

This mother is ridiculous. Can anyone say spaz? She needs to do her 3 months in jail and pay her fine. Neglecting children is irresponsible. This mother really needs to get a grip and figure it out. 42 yrs old? Come on now.

Any mother that would A. Beat her child, and B. Leave her stranded on a highway, is NOT fit to care for that child. That girl needs to be put in foster care with a family that will keep her safe and support her. A mere ticket is NOT justice in this case.

I think it's absolutely ridiculous that this woman was only ticketed for misdemeanor child neglect. That woman who left her husband in the car was arrested and her face was all over TV. The fact that this woman was not arrested is just sickening. And where is the girl now? Did she have to go home where her mother probably hit her again for getting her in trouble?

MISDEMEANOR CHILD NEGLECT - MISDEMEANOR CHILD NEGLECT???????????? Someone needs to look into that law. If she was hitting the child in the car, she surely wasn't "hitting" her in a proper place. I know teenagers can be rough, but my gosh, just how important is a soccer game anyway????

She should receive more than a ticket for misdemeanor child neglect. She has to be unstable to leave a 15 year old any where, especially on a busy Interstate. Maybe she should have to go thru some sort of Mental Evaluation to see if she should continue to be allowed to raise her child.
