Major westbound routes from the Nebraska Panhandle into Wyoming remained closed on Saturday as road crews clear more than a foot of snow in some areas.

Interstate 80 and U.S. Highway 30 was closed from Ogallala west into Wyoming. Eastbound lanes were open.

The Nebraska State Patrol says Wyoming officials requested the road closures in the Panhandle because westbound traffic was stopped.

Meanwhile, Dawson Public Power District crews have restored power to nearly 1,100 customers in south-central Nebraska. Power was knocked out early Friday as snow piled up on lines, which were then shaken by winds gusting to 40 mph.
