A convicted sex offender was arrested Friday morning near a Bellevue elementary school.

Robert Swoopes was seen near Leonard Lawrence Elementary School at 29th and Lynwood a few weeks ago and told not to return.

He was again spotted near the school around 8 a.m. Friday. Officers stopped him for careless driving, disorderly conduct and making threats to an officer. He is being held at the Sarpy County Jail.

According to the Nebraska Sex Offender Registry, the 50-year-old Swoopes is a Level 3 offender, which is considered at the highest risk of re-offending.
