Free Sky-Gazing At UNL Beginning Soon

Free sky-gazing through powerful telescopes at the University of Nebraska Lincoln's Behlen Observatory will begin Sept. 25.

From 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on that day, visitors will be able to view the moon, Jupiter, two kinds of star clusters, and other objects. The observatory is located near Mead.

Jupiter will be located more favorably for observing in September than later in the fall. In a small telescope, the four bright Galilean moons are also visibly lined up on either side of Jupiter.

The observatory will also be open to the public 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Oct. 23 and Nov. 20.
