Grouse Season Opens Saturday In Nebraska

Nebraska hunters will be on the lookout for grouse starting Saturday, when the grouse-hunting season opens in the state.

A grouse is a ground-dwelling bird related to the chicken.

No special permit is required to hunt grouse west of U.S. Highway 81, which runs north-south in the eastern half of Nebraska.

West of the highway, the daily bag limit is three grouse and the possession limit is 12.

East of the highway, hunters will need a special permit to hunt grouse, and the bag and possession limits are three birds.

The season runs through Dec. 31
