Three Nebraska towns have received more than $457,000 following spring storms that unleashed damaging wind, hail, tornadoes and rain.
The state Department of Economic Development announced the federal grants, which are distributed by the state, earlier this week.
Ithaca got $336,000 to fix berms along Wahoo Creek just west of town. Platte Center received $84,000 to analyze Elm Creek, which could lead to measures to help prevent future floods. Beatrice got $37,000 to identify parts of its storm-sewer system that need repaired.
The grants come from a pot of nearly $5.3 million the state received to help with storm cleanup and repairs.
