Poll: 12% Of Rural Nebraskans Lack Insurance
Many rural Nebraskans would be directly affected by the health insurance reform proposals Congress is considering.
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln's annual rural poll suggests that 12 percent of the working-age residents of rural Nebraska lack health insurance. Part of the proposed health reforms is designed to ensure that nearly everyone has health insurance.
The poll also suggested that 16 percent of rural Nebraskans purchase their own health insurance, and 5 percent rely on a government program like Medicaid for health insurance.
The poll findings were based on more than 2,850 responses from people in the state's 84 rural counties. Its margin of error is plus or minus 3 percentage points.
