Thursday afternoon a car lingered outside the Bellevue offices of Dr. Carhart.
Normally, a car like this would not raise suspicion. But, because of where the car is parked, it got a second look.
"We know Dr. Carhart is one of the very few abortionists across the country, so we kind of pay attention to that," says Herb Evers, Captain of the Bellevue Police Department.
Captain Evers is in charge of keeping a planned weekend protest in front of the clinic safe. The protest is scheduled from Friday through the weekend.
Evers is not sure how many protesters will attend.
The protest has received national attention from the websites of The National Organization For Women, Operation Rescue, and from fringe websites like Army of God.
"We've been preparing for at least five weeks," says Evers.
Mission Street in Bellevue will be closed during the protests.
The clinic expects as many as 30 patients will have the procedure performed as the protests goes on.
