The federal trial of an Omaha-based crime scene investigator charged with falsifying records in a double-murder case will go on as scheduled Aug. 31.

Judge Lyle Strom denied a request to again delay trial for Douglas County CSI commander David Kofoed.

Kofoed's attorney, Steve Lefler, last week asked for a brief delay as he wraps up the murder trial of former Nebraska running back Thunder Collins. The jury is now deliberating in that case.

Kofoed's trial was originally scheduled to begin Aug. 17.

Kofoed has pleaded not guilty to falsifying records and related charges. The accusations stem from the collection of blood evidence in a Cass County case in which two men were wrongly accused in a double murder.
