A $25,000 reward is being offered by the Simmonds Foundation for information that leads to the arrest of the people who broke into the family home Thursday morning and robbed Linda Simmonds. Police say the intruders tied Simmonds up. She was asleep when they entered.
Omaha police have not released much information about the break-in and robbery. Channel 6 News is told police believe the intruders were likely dropped off on Pacific street, that they gained access to a public path that runs through the exclusive neighborhood, and from there they scaled a fence in the rear of the Simmonds' home.
Omaha police detectives were combing over the property again Friday as they continued their investigation.
Mike Simmonds is a well-known businessman in Omaha who at one time owned many of the Burger King restaurants in the metro area.
Earlier this year he offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons who were trying to extort money from ethnic business owners on 84th street.
Anyone with information should contact the Omaha Police Department.
