Some workers at a Lincoln dairy plant may be speeding up their job searches, now that the plant closing has been moved up.
Nearly 100 people will be out of work when the Meadow Gold dairy plant closes on Friday.
Dean Foods of Dallas owns the plant.
A spokeswoman had said the plant would close next month as part of consolidation plan, but she did not give a specific date. A call to her Monday was not immediately returned.
Employees are getting severance.
The company says about 70 people in sales and distribution will continue to work in Lincoln.
Dean Foods' milk and dairy products are sold under several brand names, including Alta Dena, Garelick, Land O' Lakes, Mayfield and Purity.
Dean reported net sales of $12.5 billion in 2008.
