Plattsmouth City Council members received the preview for the 2009-2010 general fund budget this week. They were told the city tax rate is expected to remain about the same at 45 cents per $100 valuation.
The Cassgram rpeorts no capital purchases are planned. No major street projects other than federally helped projects already in the works are planned. No raises are factored in for city employees. There’s a “modest increase” included in community center rates. Those are some of the major points City Administrator Erv Portis presented.
Among the more positive notes, the city is expecting to pay down the tax anticipation note by $100,000 and no cuts in services are planned.
In response to council questions, Portis said the city needs to use “fiscal discipline” and view this next fiscal year’s budget as the first year of a five-year plan.
