WOWT Tests Mobile Digital Television
Some truly ground breaking news was announced Thursday by Channel Six at the Nebraska Broadcaster's Convention. A new computer chip is in production right now that will allow Channel Six viewers to receive our TV signal, on hand-held devices, no matter where you are in the coverage area.

That would be nice. I could get NBC again. I had WOWT for a little while right after the switch to DTV then I only got it in the evenings. I don't get it at all now.
I can't wait until more consumer products carry the technology!
Does anyone know how it works or how to see if your phone is able to get signal?
I just wish that when you go outside of Omaha, you could get a good signal. I had to buy a satellite dish which I now use when camping and such. Don't watch much public tv now, so I guess it's not so bad.
I want my analog signal back. Since the switch, I have a converter, and an antenna, and havent been able to fully watch one newscast on any channel. Who is the smart one to think of this? Prolly the same person that thought they should create the next best thing before they even get the current system running right.
Is there any hope to get 87.7 back? I cannot tell you how much we miss it. Best of all not a distraction when driving. Please Update us faithful listeners, Mike
What is so important on TV that you can't miss it? Just like texting, another useless device.
I have missed 87.7 so much!! I kept hoping it would be on a digital radio. I really hope I get to be one of the first to have this! I am really looking forward to it!!
Now if you would just increase your signal so that we can watch you again in southeast Nebraska. Since the switch to digital, we can't watch 6, 3, ot 7 during the day and they break up some in the evening. Really getting tired of watching 15 and 42. Their signals are very strong and NEVER break up.I'd be embarrased that the big 3 networks can't have signals as strong as the CW affiliate.
I am happy to see so many positive comments and agree we need strong laws to keep people focused on the road and not watching while driving. That said, I am looking forward to the rollout. You can get more info from www.omvc.org As soon as the devices are on the market we will post the info and may run some more stories. Please keep the comments going so I can share them in Washington DC and checking back. Support your local broadcaster!!
i think its great! I drive to work every morning and miss 87.7, weather, traffic news, etc. Also having WOWT weather at my side when driving during bad weather would make me feel safer too! Ill be one of the first to have one!
All I have to say is WOW. I am really looking forward to gettin this chip.
is this the DVB-T tech that is in europe right now or something different, can we get some information on what to get to watch this
oh my goodness i cant wait until this is available to the public!
I think this sounds like great technology. We camp a lot in the state parks and the reception is poor for TV. This will be great for news and weather updates. How soon will the chip become available and how much will it cost? Can't wait to here more about this!
