Three young boys may face criminal charges for allegedly beating ducks with sticks near an Omaha park lagoon.

They were beaten so badly one duck died and three others had to be euthanized.

Omaha police and Nebraska Humane Society officers were called to Fontenelle Park Saturday afternoon.

They found three boys, ages 13, 12 and 10. Officers witnessed the 10-year-old boy beating a duck with a stick.

The other two admitted later to beating the ducks as well.

Officers found one dead duck at the park. Three other ducks were injured so badly that officers euthanized them humanely at the scene.

The Nebraska Humane Society will forward reports to the juvenile division of the Douglas County Attorney’s office for possible charges.
