NU's Kearney Campus Must Cut 10 Jobs, Leader Says
The chancellor says the University of Nebraska at Kearney will have to eliminate at least 10 jobs to balance its budget.
Chancellor Doug Kristensen says the school must cut spending nearly $800,000. Some open positions will be eliminated, and the cuts will include tenured employees.
Under the system budget approved in June by the university regents, the four Nebraska campuses have to find $8.5 million for higher salaries and other benefits.
NU President J.B. Milliken warned then that jobs and programs could be trimmed or eliminated.
Undergraduate tuition is rising an average of 4 percent next school year.
