NE Corn Crop Entering Critical Stage Of Summer

Nebraska's corn crop is in the critical pollination stage, and the state's soybean crop is blooming.

But the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service says growing conditions have been excellent across the state recently.

The Agriculture Department says 82 percent of the state's corn crop was in good or excellent condition at the end of last week. That's well ahead of last year's 75 percent.

About 84 percent of the soybean crop rated in good or excellent condition last week. That's also ahead of last year's 75 percent good or excellent rating.

Statewide, more than half of the wheat has been harvested, and 74 percent of that crop rated in good or excellent condition by the end of last week
