Investigators say the driver of a car was hit once by gunfire along with his vehicle this morning near I-80 and Q Street.
Omaha Police are identifying that driver as 24-year-old Pedro Simon of Omaha.
Sgt. Harold Scott, of the Omaha Police, said it's possible Simon knew the suspect who fired at him along the westbound I-80 access road. The 911 call came in around 5:30 and, according to Sgt. Scott, and was made by Simon after exiting at Q Street.
The I-L-Q exit on Interstate 80 has been closed while investigators process the scene. Sgt. Scott indicated they hope to have it reopen soon, "when the crime lab is done processing the scene."
Simon was transported to Creighton University Hospital with injuries that are not considered life threatening.
No information was given about the suspect or the suspect's vehicle.
