A Winnebago, Nebraska man has pleaded guilty to fatally shooting his brother in the stomach last year.

The U.S. Attorney's office said Tuesday that Derrick Bass pleaded guilty to manslaughter and using a weapon to commit a violent crime. He is scheduled to be sentenced on September 28.

The 24-year-old Bass got into an argument with his brother, Marcus, last July.

Prosecutors say Bass retrieved a 9 mm handgun and a knife from his room when his brother refused to leave the house on the Winnebago Indian Reservation. A scuffle ensued, and Marcus Bass was shot.

Marcus Bass died at a Sioux City, Iowa, hospital 10 days after the fight with his brother.
