Drug money is making a big impact in Kearney and other areas of Buffalo County following a district judge's ruling. The judge released $105,000 for local law enforcement and school agencies to divide.

Court records show the money was found in a car stopped for speeding by a state trooper in February. The trooper said he smelled marijuana in the car and searched it.

The driver, Michael Zobac of Mount Vernon, Iowa, was arrested. He signed a forfeiture waiver giving up his claim to the money.

The judge ruled the money had been used for drug activity, based on Zobac's lack of interest or claim to the money, and other factors.
