Shots were fired shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday night, sending one man to Creighton University Medical Center in critical condition.

It happened in the area of 24th and P Streets. Initially, a "help an officer" call was put out. However, it was quickly canceled as Omaha police officers gained control of the situation.

One officer at the scene said a fight broke out at a nearby dance club. However, it is unclear how many people were involved and who fired the shots.

Police were bracing for further disturbances shortly before midnight, as the dance club crowd began to exit.

The Douglas County crime lab has been called to the scene to investigate the matter further.
