Canadian military and civilian planes continue to search the mountains of southwest Yukon for a plane with an Iowa couple missing on a flight from Alaska to Whitehorse.

The search began June 20 when a Beechcraft Bonanza flown by 70-year-old Gary Patigler of Bettendorf, Iowa, failed to arrive. He had taken off with his wife Ingrid from Wolf Lake, near Anchorage.

The search master with the Canadian Forces, Capt. Craig Ellestad, says no emergency transmitter signal has been detected. According to searchers, the couple was equipped for camping, so if they survived a crash, there is hope they're alive and waiting to be rescued.

Patigler owns a metal plating business in Bettendorf and has more than 30 years of flying experience.
