The Nebraska State Patrol has been awarded a $22,000 grant from the Office of Highway Safety, enough to put an extra 46 troopers on the roads this holiday weekend.

They will be watching the interstate and highways and areas heavily traveled by vacationers.

"We're gonna be focusing a lot of our attention this weekend on the state park areas, Mahoney, Two Rivers, Fremont Lakes as well as increased enforcement along with Omaha Police down around the Rosenblatt Stadium for the July 3rd fireworks show," said Nebraska State Patrol Lt. Kevin Bridges.

Not only will law enforcement be looking for drunk drivers, but speeders and those not wearing a seat belt.
