Nebraska's chief medical officer says summer camps need to guard against the swine flu.
Dr. Joann Schaefer says the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has offered guidance to help prevent the spread of the virus and tips on what to do when campers get sick.
Campers and staff members should be notified that they won't be allowed at camp if they have flu-like symptoms within seven days before the start of camp.
Camps should stress the importance of washing hands, covering coughs and taking other similar precautions.
Common areas should be cleaned routinely.
When campers get sick, they should be isolated for at least seven days after symptoms began or 24 hours after symptoms conclude, whichever is longer.
