A Lincoln Public Schools bus driver is in custody. Police say David Kraegel molested a special needs student he was taking home.

Lincoln police officer Katie Flood said the incident happened Monday June 22, 2009. Flood says David Kraegel was driving the bus for the Yankee Hill Program and was making his last drop-off of the day; a 17-year-old student.

According to neighbors, the bus stopped before the students house. Kraegel and the girl embraced. Neighbors say they went over to check on the teen.

Kraegel allegedly told neighbors he had helped the teen crack her back.
The neighbors called police anyway. Flood said the girl was interviewed at the Child Advocacy Center and told officials Kraegel had kissed her and touched her inappropriately over her clothes.

Kraegel was arrested Friday for third degree sexual assault. He is a long time driver for LPS and has no other arrests or tickets with LPD.

Officer Flood said a para-educator usually rides along on the bus for the program, but that person called in sick on June 22.
