The outpouring of support for a fallen Omaha police officer continued in full force Saturday. A poker run and auction to benefit the family of Sgt. Jason Pratt was held at Bourbon Street.

It was an effort organizers said had to be done, even though there have been several fundraisers already. "I've been crying ever since he got shot," said event organizer Roz Fahey. "You just don't know what to do, because, every police officer is a part of all of us, and when you take one away, you take a big thing away." It was why hundreds were on hand for the poker run and live auction. "I think it's great," said Patty Galligan of Omaha. "I don't think there's enough you can do for somebody that gave up their life to take care of the rest of us."

Local businesses donated the goods for the auction, from jackets and hats to pool balls and sports memorabilia. Dillon Brothers Harley Davidson donated a Harley to be raffled off October 11th. Tickets sold for $100 a piece. Call 510-1582 for more information. Lots of items, loads of generosity, but the people here said it's more than that. "A lot of sentiment involved, everyone's wearin' their heart on their sleeve for the family," said Theresa Thoma of Omaha. "There's small kids involved in the family, so it's very tragic for his family," said Todd Thoma of Omaha. "Good show from the city, a lot of people come out and get together for a good cause."

It was another way to remember and honor Sgt. Pratt. "Keeps him in my heart a little bit more and every other police officer," said Fahey.

There are still Sgt. Pratt Memorial T-shirts available at Big Fred's, Joe Tess Place, Lo Sole Mio, and Mangelsen's on 84th Street. Proceeds from all of the fundraisers go to the Pratt family.
