It's that time of year again to adopt a duck and help the Omaha Food Bank at the same time. The second annual O! What A Duck Race will take place this weekend, July 25th, at Heartland of America Park.

Last year, thousands turned out to cheer on their duck, hoping to win a car if their duck was first across the finish line.

This year, organizers hope to double the money raised. "We're going from $25,000 to $50,000 this year and that's a big goal, but we've got a big task in front of us,” says Tom Burke. “The Food Bank has never been busier, there's a big need to raise funds for the hungry."

Saturday is also a free Family Fun Festival complete with family-friendly games, entertainment, plus free food and activities.

In Douglas County alone, 53,000 people live below the poverty line and almost 17,000 of them are children.

A donation of just $5 can feed a family of four for a day; a $100 adoption donation feeds that same family for an entire month.

If you are interested in "adopting" a duck, you can do various packages ranging in price. Go to owhataduckrace.org for more information.
