A startling case of revenge has a Glenwood, Iowa woman afraid to pick up her phone. Her number was posted on an Internet version of a bathroom wall.

It was a shocking Internet invitation. "I really want you guys to give me the dirtiest and kinkiest phone calls you can." This wife and mother, who didn’t wish to be identified, covered up the picture of a naked woman she's never seen before. But the phone number on the Internet posting is all too familiar.

"Someone has taken my personal information and posted it on a porno Web site and now I'm getting unsolicited, unwanted phone calls."

Minutes after the prank posting, the victim received more than 25 phone calls from strangers. What were people saying? "Terrible, terrible dirty things."

The victim filed a police report in Glenwood where she claims someone had both motive and access to her personal information. She suspects she's a victim of retaliation after giving poor marks to fast-food workers on a comment card. At the bottom of that survey, it asked for name and phone number. She says her number is unlisted.

Though the case is in Iowa, Six On Your Side asked a police computer forensics expert in Nebraska to examine the posting.

"Depending on the whole situation, it could fall under something of criminal impersonation, disturbing the peace,” said computer crimes investigator Brad Wood, who added that the posting can be traced, but it's not a click away.

"All depends on where the Web site is hosted. If it's hosted in the United States it's subject to our subpoena laws."

The Web site has been contacted and the victim's phone number removed from the X-rated message board. Still, she worries about her personal information in the hands of a prankster bent on revenge.

"If I have fear of my children answering the phone or going out and playing, that's ridiculous."

There are suspicions, but no proof yet, about where the people are employed who posted the phone number. Six On Your Side will not name any business until local and state investigators in western Iowa make an arrest.
