Omaha drivers can expect to see some detours around town. The Mayor has announced 15 major street resurfacing projects totaling 25 lane miles and eight residential areas totaling 45 city blocks.

Mayor Mike Fahey plans to spend $4.5 million dollars on the project. Funding for the street resurfacing comes from the state's street and highway allocation and the city's wheel tax, not the general fund.

The first major resurfacing projects will begin in late June with the residential projects anticipated to start in July.

The residential areas targeted for repairs include:

  • Walnut Grove
  • Old Millard
  • Harvey Oaks
  • Kountze Place
  • Grammercy Park
  • Robin Hills
  • Good Shepard
  • Elmwood Park

The major streets to be repaired include:

  • 15th Street from Leavenworth to Marcy
  • Grover Street from 43rd to 49th
  • 138th Street from Q to Harrison
  • Western Avenue from JE George Blvd and 72nd
  • Indian Hills Drive from 84th to 90th
  • Pacific Street from 84th to 90th
  • Western Avenue from 83rd to 90th
  • 50th Street from Center to Grover
  • 33rd Street from Dodge to California
  • Calhoun Road from Sargent to Florence Heights
  • Woolworth Avenue from 28th to I-80 bridge
  • EB L Street from 55th to 72nd
  • 108th Street from L to Intersection

  • Dodge Street from Happy Hollow to 62nd

Every year the City of Omaha Public Works Department evaluates the conditions of local streets to determine future projects based on need. Anyone concerned about the condition of their street should contact the Mayor's Hotline at 444-5555.
