Nebraska health officials looking ahead to the statewide smoking ban taking effect on June 1 have developed a tool to help businesses make the transition.
The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services has set up a Web site at www.smokefree.ne.gov.
It includes a summary of the law and other resources. It also offers guidance on what defines an indoor area and outlines where smoking is restricted.
The law bans smoking in indoor public places and workplaces.
The law calls for complaints to trigger inspections that most of the time will be conducted by local health departments.
