Nebraska's Better Business Bureau is warning consumers to be on the lookout for fraudulent e-mails and Web sites trying to take advantage of the swine flu outbreak.
Bureau President Jim Hegarty says scammers know by using a hook from the day's top headlines, they'll be able to "catch lots of fish."
He cautions people not to fall for offers selling swine flu vaccinations. There are none. He also says no one needs to spend money learning how to avoid catching the virus. All the information is available for free from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Hegarty advises consumers avoid online scams by taking the usual precautions. That includes not opening e-mails from unknown senders and reporting suspect e-mails to the Federal Trade Commission.
