Eight Nebraska high school seniors will be recognized next week for earning a top composite score on the ACT. Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman and ACT Assistant Vice President Ernest Valdez will host a special ceremony on April 28 at 10 a.m. at Westside High School in Omaha.

The students are:
* Thomas Belatti of Creighton Preparatory School in Omaha
* Alexander Estes of Westside High School in Omaha
* Daniel Holtmeyer of Bellevue Senior High School in Bellevue
* Benjamin Kotopka of Pius X High School in Lincoln
* Cara Nickolaus of Lincoln Northeast High School in Lincoln
* Luke Weitkemper of Mount Michael Benedictine High School in Elkhorn
* Logan White of Creighton Preparatory School in Omaha
* Marcus Winter of Elmwood-Murdock Junior Senior High School in Murdock

The eight students will each receive an ACT laptop bag, an engraved pen and pencil set, a plaque for their high school and a certificate signed by the governor and Commissioner Dr. Roger Breed.

The ACT consists of tests in English, math, reading, and science. Each test is scored on a scale of 1- 36. A student’s composite score is the average of the four scores.

Students who earn a top ACT score should have a choice of the widest possible range of future educational opportunities. ACT scores are accepted at all colleges and universities across the nation.
