Unwanted Auto Warranty Phone Calls

A consumer alert from the Nebraska Public Service Commission: It's asking you to report unwanted phone calls from a company soliciting new and extended auto warranties.

Consumers are getting these calls on their landlines and cell phones. To add to the frustration, when you try to disconnect or call them back, you can't.

The PSC is tracking these calls and reporting them to the Federal Trade Commission.

It advises all of us to add our entire phone numbers, cell phones included, to the Do Not Call Registry.

It's a simple process, and we can do this at www.donotcall.gov or by calling (888) 382-1222.

In order to be able to report a complaint, the number you're getting these unwanted calls on has to be on the list for at least 31 days.

When you do register your phone number online, you will receive an email verifying your number has been received.

You must open the email-and click on the link-in order to complete the registration process.

The Do Not Call list will not be made public, and your number remains on there permanently unless you request it be removed.
