The owner of a Dodge Ram pickup truck was killed in a rollover crash Wednesday night just east of Fremont. The man is identified as 27-year-old Kelly Ladd of Valley.

Investigators say Ladd was ejected from the pickup truck as it rolled several times. A second person in the truck, 27-year-old Matthew Layman of Hooper, was injured. By mid-morning Thursday it was not clear which of the men was driving at the time of the crash.

It happened on Old Highway 275A.

Neither man was wearing a seatbelt. Investigators say speed was a factor.

Both men were initially taken to a Fremont hospital. Ladd was pronounced dead there. Layman was later taken to the trauma center at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha.
