A jury has awarded $69,000 more to the owners of land taken through eminent domain by the city of Waverly. The Lancaster County jury decided that $381,000 should be given to Randall and David Hedrick and Carol Reynolds.

They sued Waverly, saying the $312,000 Waverly paid was too little for their 31.5 acres on the north side of town. The city says the $312,000 was the price determined by court-appointed appraisers.

A Waverly official has said the land would be used in the future for a new water tower, maintenance building and other city infrastructure.
