More than 1,000 gallons of corn syrup that spilled on a road in western Nebraska made for a sticky mess. The incident occurred on the Highway 25 bridge over the South Platte River near Sutherland.

On Wednesday, about 1,250 gallons of corn syrup spilled from a Midwest Renewable Energy tank trailer that had cracked.

The Sutherland volunteer fire department and the Lincoln County sheriff's office responded to the spill. Officials hosed down the road with water and had the spill cleaned up in about 1/2 hour.
