An open house is scheduled later this month to discuss modifications to two separate intersections on Nebraska Highway 50.
The open house will be held Tuesday, March 31, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Chalco Hills Recreation Area Natural Resource Center, 8901 S. 154th Street, in Omaha.
The proposed project involves improvements to the east side of both intersections at Cornhusker Road and Meadows Parkway.
The plan for the Cornhusker Road intersection at 142nd Street South includes channelizing the westbound approach to N-50.
This improvement includes modifications to limit turning from the north-south frontage road, just east of the intersection.
Improvements planned for the Meadows Parkway intersection with N-50, approximately a quarter of a mile north of Cornhusker Road, will allow large trucks to make a right-hand turn onto the frontage road (143rd Ave. S.) from Meadows Parkway to access the businesses east of N-50.
The project, located primarily on existing alignment, will alleviate some congestion at the Cornhusker Road intersection and provide improved traffic flow.
Construction is located entirely in Sarpy County and will require no detours during construction.
Personnel from the Department of Roads will be available to answer questions and receive comments about the project.
No formal presentation is planned.
Preliminary plans are available for review at the NDOR District 2 Headquarters, 4425 S. 108th St., in Omaha, and at the Roadway Design Division, 1500 Highway 2, in Lincoln.
Information regarding the project is available via the Highway Projects link on the NDOR internet website at www.transportation.nebraska.gov/projects/.
