Outdoor outfitter Cabela's remains cautiously optimistic about 2009 because its core group of customers tends to be resilient during a recession.
Cabela's President and CEO Dennis Highby says the Sidney-based company's core customers continue to shop even with the current recession.
That's why Highby predicts Cabela's will be able to deliver net income per share in 2009 that's roughly equal to the profit the company reported last year.
Cabela's reported $76.4 million net income in 2008, or about $1.14 per share.
Cabela's sells hunting, fishing, camping and related outdoor merchandise through its Web and catalog business and its massive retail stores.
