The Boat, Sports and Travel Show wraps up Sunday at Qwest Center Omaha. Organizers expect attendance will set a record despite the economy.
More than 200 displays are set up, showing off RVs, boats and other grown-up toys. Exhibitors couldn't be happier with the turnout.
"People are going to be involved with the outdoors no matter what happens,” says Dick Hansen of Dick’s Displays. “They'll probably give up a little bit of going to the restaurant or taking long trips, but they still do fishing and they still go hunting and they still go to the resorts."
A Harris poll shows 54-percent of Americans cut back on spending when it comes to "leisure activity" in 2008, but vendors we spoke to say they haven't seen that kind of drop, probably because Midwesterners are usually more conservative with their money and haven't suffered the same kind of losses as elsewhere.
