Cass County calls the next number in the keno process.
The Cassgram reports that Cass County Commissioners are giving keno operators a month to submit proposals for running a county keno game. The plans are due March 23rd and the board will look at them April 7th.
Commissioners have put no parameters on the proposals. The keno companies will outline their own ideas that will include the percentage paid back to the county and how the keno system would operate.
Commissioners do not have to accept any of the proposals.
Cass County voters overwhelmingly voted in favor of keno last November.
A couple of commissioners have expressed doubts the amount of money raised through a county keno game will be significant but have been told there’s not much work on the county’s end so all five commissioners voted for the motion this week asking for the request-for-proposals.
Keno funds raised by government entities in Nebraska are deposited into a local community betterment fund. State law allows for the money to be spent in a variety of ways.
