Nearly three months to the day after being married, a Lincoln man accidentally shot and killed his wife.

Twenty-year-old Alaina Beasley was shot inside the couple's home at the Fountain Glenn Apartments about 9:15 p.m. Saturday. Police say her husband, 21-year-old Joshua Beasley, was handling a shotgun when it went off.

Alaina died about four hours later at Bryan LGH West Hospital. The Lancaster County attorney says the investigation is ongoing.

Josh and Alaina exchanged vows at Grace Baptist Church in Lincoln last November 1st.

According to a blog posted by family and friends, Josh was an expert shooter. A photo taken only weeks ago shows him teaching Alaina to shoot.

Channel 6 News spoke with Josh's mother Monday afternoon. Both families are asking for privacy as they grieve. Friends of the couple are sharing their memories of Alaina on Facebook. They call her "one of the sweetest, nicest people," adding she had a beautiful smile.
