Thousands of Nebraskans gathered at the capitol in Lincoln to show support on both sides of the abortion issue.

Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman was among a number of politicians who rallied pro-life supporters marching in opposition of the 1973 Supreme Court ruling which made abortion legal.

"This is in the Bill of Rights, the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and I think it's extremely important that we stand up for the right to life,” said Nancy Russell.

"It's not a pretty thing, but it was the best thing for me." Jessica Langenberg was referring to her decision to have an abortion when she was 20. She feels giving women that choice is important.

Sen. Tony Fulton of Lincoln recently proposed a new anti-abortion bill, which if passed, would require abortion clinics to show women their ultrasounds before the procedure. Pro-choice groups say that's already standard practice.
