As Agriculture Secretary, he spent several years answering questions before the Senate Agriculture Committee. Now, U.S. Senator Mike Johanns of Nebraska will be on the other side – asking questions.
Nebraska’s freshman senator was given his committee assignments Wednesday. He will serve on the following committees: Agriculture, Nutrition & Forestry -- Banking, Housing, & Urban Affairs -- Commerce, Science, & Transportation – Veterans Affairs – and Indian Affairs.
In a statement, the Republican said, “These committee assignments are significant for our state and it is an honor to be on such consequential committees. While it is unusual for a freshman Senator to be given such responsibility, I am well-prepared for the challenge and will draw on my many years of public service to make a meaningful contribution to the development of policies that ensure a bright future for Nebraska and our nation.”
