Offutt Impact On Economy

The economic impact of Offutt Air Force Base on the region is detailed in the latest analysis compiled by the 55th Comptroller Squadron, Financial Management Analysis Flight at Offutt. Along with the impact numbers, the breakdown of where active military personnel are living is included according to the Cassgram.

The report estimates the total annual economic impact at $2.42 billion. It includes a payroll of just under $500 million, annual expenditures of over $1.7 billion and the estimated annual dollar value of jobs created at almost $165 million.

There are 5,471 active duty military jobs at Offutt. The appropriated, non-appropriated and contract civilian jobs total 3,308. The report estimates the number of indirect jobs created at 4,173.

The "Zip Code Distribution of Air Force Active Duty Personnel and Payroll" shows 97 of the 5,741 active duty members reside in the 68048 zip code. The 68048 members’ gross pay is projected at $5.64 million (determined by the number of members multiplied by the active duty salary average, $58,205).

Bellevue zip codes have over 2,400 members, the Offutt zip code has over 1,200 and Papillion-LaVista zip codes have nearly 800 members.

The report states just over 10,000 military retirees reside in the immediate counties around Offutt AFB.
