Adams County commissioners have accepted the resignation of longtime county treasurer Julia Moeller, who left the post amid a tax evasion scandal.
Moeller's resignation comes three weeks before a special election aimed at recalling her. She served as county treasure for more than 30 years.
Moeller still faces a criminal trial, set to start next Wednesday. She is accused of working with her daughter to avoid paying sales tax on a new motor home. Her daughter also works for the county.
Moeller denies the allegations and says she "bought, licensed and paid sales tax" on the motor home. Moeller said she is confident all charges will be proven false.
