Bellevue Close To Naming Fire Chief

By next week the city of Bellevue, Nebraska could have a new fire chief and he’ll be getting a pay check.

Channel Six News has learned that Bellevue City Administrator Gary Troutman has selected Perry Guido to become the city’s 1st paid firefighter. He’ll oversee 160 volunteers.

Guido is a retired assistant chief who spent 25 years with the Omaha Fire Department.

His appointment depends on city council approval Monday. If approved Guido will be on duty the next day.

His salary will be $75,000 a year. The Nebraska Legislature mandated Bellevue hire a full time fire chief. Guido was selected from six finalists.
