Kayla Erickson, Creighton University student from Omaha, has just finished the fall semester in Washington, D.C. working as an intern for Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley.
Erickson worked as an intern with Sen. Grassley's Press Office, filing daily press clippings and accompanying the Senator and his staff to radio and TV appearances. Senator Grassley calls interning, "a valuable experience for any student who wants to get a first-hand look at how the Senate works".
Erickson agrees and said, “I had an amazing experience with Senator Grassley’s office this semester." She adds, "I am grateful I got to spend the semester in the middle of an historical time in Washington D.C. as well. The Presidential election and the economic instability of the past few months were just a few of the events I got to witness firsthand."
Erickson is the daughter of Rhonda and Kent Erickson of Omaha. She graduated from Millard South High School in 2006 and plans to graduate from Creighton in the spring of 2010 with degrees in Political Science and Spanish.
