The Cassgram reports that 38-year-old Edward L. Hill of Plattsmouth was sentenced to not less than five years but no more than 10 years in the state department of corrections system Monday.
Hill had pleaded guilty to the robbery charge that stemmed from a carjacking incident in Plattsmouth on July 1st of this year.
Hill used a steak knife to force a 45-year-old woman into the passenger seat of her Ford Explorer. He drove about two blocks when the woman was able to escape the vehicle. Hill was later captured without incident at a downtown Omaha bank.
Three other charges were dropped in exchange for Hill’s guilty plea to the Class II Felony. The maximum sentence was 50 years.
In arguing for a prison sentence, Cass County Attorney Nathan Cox said Hill is a "danger to society."
