Nebraskans will have the chance to vote on a plan to put a limit on state spending. A petition to put the issue on the ballot was a success.

That word came Friday from Nebraska Secretary of State John Gale. He says petition organizers collected enough valid signatures to put the issue to a vote on November 7.

The signature numbers on the state spending proposal, which is sponsored by Stop Over Spending Nebraska, were reported from 90 of 93 counties that had completed checking signatures.

After a petition is submitted to the Secretary of State’s Office, county election offices have the job of verifying whether petition signatures are those of registered voters.
